How NextRange Mobile Works

NextRange turns a phone or tablet you already own into a connected device for your kid, without adding a full cellular line. Here's the planned beta process.

1. Check device compatibility

Not every phone can install a standard downloadable eSIM, even if it technically has eSIM hardware. Before anything else, check the device against our supported devices list, which covers iPhone, iPad, most current Android phones, and select cellular-equipped laptops, along with any region- or carrier-specific caveats that apply to that model.

2. Choose a plan

Pick a planned beta data tier (2 GB or 5 GB monthly, with unused data rolling over up to a cap). Standard is the first launch track; Max Coverage is being validated separately. See pricing for the full breakdown.

3. Install the eSIM

Once you're invited and activated, NextRange provisions a data eSIM for the device and sends install instructions: typically a QR code or a direct install link, depending on the device. No physical SIM card, no store visit.

4. Set up controls from your dashboard

The parent-control experience is designed to support:

• Pause and resume data access on demand.
• Set school and bedtime schedules so access can turn off and on automatically.
• Watch usage for each device, with alerts planned before data runs low.
• Share one data bank across every sibling's device instead of managing separate allowances.

5. Your kid gets connected, on your terms

With the eSIM installed and data active, the device can use messaging apps, maps, video calling, and other internet-based services away from Wi-Fi. NextRange is data-only: there's no traditional phone number, SMS line, or voice calling included, so it's worth pairing with whatever messaging/location tools already work on the device rather than expecting a traditional phone line's full feature set.

What happens when data runs low

Nothing surprising. NextRange doesn't charge automatic overages: when the monthly allowance and rollover bank are used up, data access pauses until the next cycle or until more data is added. Low-balance alerts are planned before that happens.
