Standard vs. Max Pass: Coverage Options Explained

NextRange's first launch track is Standard. Max Pass is the planned Max Coverage upgrade for families who need broader network reach, but it is still being validated before broader rollout.

Standard

Standard is the simpler starting point. It is designed for families whose child mostly needs reliable app-based connectivity for messaging, maps, video calling, and location sharing.

The current beta estimates are:

  • 2 GB Standard: $7.99/month.
  • 5 GB Standard: $11.99/month.

Max Pass

Max Pass is the planned Max Coverage upgrade. It is intended for families who need broader reach than Standard.

The current validation-track estimates are:

  • 2 GB with Max Pass: $11.99/month.
  • 5 GB with Max Pass: $17.99/month.

That implies a current estimated upgrade of $4/month on the 2 GB tier and $6/month on the 5 GB tier.

Why Max Pass is still under validation

Multi-network coverage is more complex than single-network coverage. The business plan calls out two important validation points:

  • Usage may need to be derived conservatively until exact carrier-attributed or byte-level usage is available.
  • Network changes may need to run through asynchronous provider operations and may involve a reconnect delay.

That is why public copy should treat Max Pass as a validation track, not a fully finalized launch promise.

Usage may be estimated

For Max Pass, usage may be labeled as estimated or freshness-limited during validation. This helps avoid pretending the dashboard is more exact than the underlying provider data allows.

Which should parents choose?

For most early beta families, Standard is the cleaner starting point.

Max Pass is worth watching if:

  • Your child travels between areas where one network may not be enough.
  • You want broader coverage more than the lowest monthly price.
  • You understand that Max Pass is still being validated.
